Through the Erasmus grant, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge in a variety of areas including electronic systems, computing networks, web design (Joomla), Cisco routers and switches, and electronic communications.

Utilizing the skills and knowledge I acquired at this university, I was able to build this website as well as another professional website for Autoescuela Santo Ángel.

Final project

For my final project at the University of León, I worked on the installation of a Building Automation System for a Commercial Premise.

The main objectives of this project included:

· Improving the energy efficiency of the commercial premise.
· Enhancing computer security.
· Keeping costs within a limited budget.

Through this project, I gained valuable knowledge and experience in building automation systems and electronics. I was able to improve my skills in microcomputers, Shell Scripting, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and computer security.

A Raspberry Pi single-board computer (SBC) was utilized for this project.

Computer management

I had the opportunity to implement my final project from Universidad de León at this company.

I also set up the computer systems using Raspberry Pi and open-source software with the goal of reducing costs.

As a result, the company’s budget was significantly reduced. In addition to these technical tasks, I also built the company’s website and performed SEO and community management duties.

DREAMgenics

Software Developer Assistant

During my time at this biotechnology company, I had the opportunity to learn about a variety of topics including:

• Programming various functionalities in a Java continuous integration environment using tools such as JEE, Maven, Jenkins, and Nexus.
• Managing and programming in several Linux environments including CentOS, Red Hat, Debian, SUSE Linux Enterprise, Ubuntu, and OpenSUSE.
• Extensively documenting several commercial applications and internal-use documents while taking charge of drafting and layout user manuals using a collaborative platform such as Google Docs.

I also had the opportunity to collaborate on projects such as HD Genome One Research Edition. This is an extensible and automatable solution for working with NGS data sets that allows for the integration of all the bioinformatics solutions required for research including reading alignment, variant calling, and annotation. This enables researchers and bioinformaticians to dedicate more time to research and less time to data processing. Additionally, if you have your own algorithms, pipelines, and/or databases, HD Genome One Research Edition also allows for their integration.

Another project I worked on was HD Genome One Research Station. DREAMgenics provides an NGS data-processing server with the pre-installed and ready-to-use HD Genome One Research Edition solution. With 80 processing cores and a storage appliance of up to 180TB, it can handle any kind of project while providing high-quality analysis performance. It is available in both rack and desktop formats for flexible integration with your system.

While working with the team at this company, I also obtained the Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer.
